Nyack, New York – Nyack, New York – Naomi L. Adler, President and CEO of United Way of Rockland County issued the following announcement on behalf of United Way of Rockland County and the County Executive's Office. United Way of Rockland County and the County Executive's Office will be signing up volunteers to become part of the Rockland County volunteer response team.
"Dear Friend of United Way of Rockland: During the last few years we have learned how important disaster preparation has become to our community. In response to this need, United Way of Rockland County and the County Executive's Office are asking you to help us sign up volunteers who would become part of our response team. We are looking for a variety of people from every geographic area of Rockland County - people who are willing and able to help us after their own needs and those of their family's are resolved. Such person would receive training and could work from their homes or drive to a specific location such as a shelter or the Rockland Assistance Center when requested. Volunteers are needed to help disseminate information to the public, help with intake or shelter management, transport meals, input data, translate, make phone calls, coordinate gifts in kind efforts and other very essential tasks during a disaster. All volunteers must be 18 years or older and willing to undergo a background check if necessary."
"If you or anyone else you know would be interested in learning more, please send them the flyer that is below about our first two volunteer recruitment meetings on November 17, 2005. RSVPs are being taken by United Way's 2-1-1 (call from any landline from 7am - 7pm) or through the County of Rockland's InfoRock service. I am also attaching a file for you to print out and hang up so that anyone in your organization who may be interested would be able to see it.
