UNITED WAY OF ROCKLAND COUNTY RECEIVES $1000 GRANT FROM THE BEST BUY CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION;

Best Buy Employees Make Gift Possible through participating in UWRC’s 2005 Day of Caring

West Nyack, New York – United Way of Rockland County is pleased to announce a $1000 grant from the Best Buy Children’s Foundation. This grant was made possible through Best Buy’s TagTeam Award program, which recognizes the volunteer and fundraising efforts of its employees. Best Buy Store #455 West Nyack, applied for the TagTeam Award grant to honor those Best Buy employees who donated time, talent and energy to this year’s United Way of Rockland County Day of Caring.

“Our Day of Caring is the largest day of community service in Rockland”, stated Naomi Adler, President and CEO of United Way of Rockland County. “This grant recognizes that 25 Best Buy Employees donated a full day of community service this past September. Their work included winterizing, painting and clean up at the Visions Camp for the Blind in Chestnut Ridge. These employees joined more than 40 corporations in Rockland County who also sent their employees to work with us through the Day of Caring. As a result, dozens of non-profit organizations were able to use the donated labor to keep their facilities running well. United Way of Rockland joins with Best Buy in congratulating the local Best Buy employees who made a real difference and are being recognized by this grant today.”
