United Way’s Day of Caring 2006

Cheers on Community Service

Nyack, NY, August 7 -- On September 15, 2006 the United Way of Rockland County will kick off its annual campaign with the most exciting and invigorating Day of Caring ever.  The Day of Caring kick-off breakfast -- to be held at the Nanuet Athletic Fields from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. -- will feature marching bands, cheering throngs and more!

Day of Caring is the largest day of community service benefiting Rockland non-profit organizations.  Day of Caring encourages area businesses to reward employees by representing their company in this enriching day of community service.   More importantly, Day of Caring offers companies, their employees and community members the chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of hundreds of people right here in Rockland county.

Last year, more than 40 companies and five school districts participated in Day of Caring.  This year, the United Way is looking to recruit even more companies and is encouraging community groups, such as Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, as well as individuals to participate.  The deadline for project registration is August 18, 2005.

Those who can’t participate in a community service project are invited to start the day with marching bands, clowns, giveaways and more by being part of the fun at the Day of Caring Kick-off Breakfast. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased by calling 845-358-8929.  The deadline for ticket purchases is August 25, 2006.

The mission of the United Way of Rockland County is to serve people by raising resources and allocating them to organizations and groups to build a strong, vibrant Rockland Community.  The Untied Way works to increase the organized capacity for people to care for one another.
