Volunteers Needed for CASH!

 

 

Nyack, NY, December 20-- The United Way of Rockland County is looking for volunteers to help with CASH – Creating Assets, Savings and Hope.  CASH is a tax assistance program for anyone who qualifies for the Earned Income Tax Credit.  CASH will be administered by the United Way of Rockland County at various sites around the county beginning January 28, 2007.

 

Volunteers are needed to help assist those qualified for the Earned Income Tax Credit.  There are a number of different volunteer opportunities available:

§        Tax preparer – volunteer tax preparers will receive IRS training to become IRS-certified tax preparers. Training is done online available.

§        Greeter – volunteer greeters help clients complete information forms.  Training for these volunteer positions will take place in January.

§        Tax expert – volunteer tax experts will answer phone calls during a CASH shift, again held in the mornings, afternoons and evenings.

§        Electronic tax filer – volunteer electronic tax filers will enter tax return data.

§        Translators – volunteer translators are needed in all languages for all shifts.
