United Way of Rockland County Establishes
The UWRC Bobbi Lewis Volunteer of the Year Award
The United Way of Rockland County Board of Directors is pleased to announce the establishment of the United Way of Rockland County Bobbi Lewis Volunteer of the Year Award through a generous $20,000 endowment from the Lewis family. This award will allow the United Way of Rockland County to annually recognize at least one person who has continually demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the organization. The recipient(s) must be a current volunteer for the United Way of Rockland County and have worked with the organization for at least three years to further our mission of raising resources and allocating them to Health and Human Services non-profit agencies to build a strong, vibrant, Rockland community.
Jerry Donnellan, Director of Rockland County Veterans and UWRC board member, commented upon learning of this fitting tribute to his close friend, “Bobbi’s energy level was only out paced by her love and concern for those she could help.”
“Bobbi Lewis was an enthusiastic, long-time board member and major supporter of the United Way of Rockland County” stated Naomi L. Adler, Esq., President of United Way of Rockland County. “She always looked for innovative ways to spread our message and raise money for those in need. Therefore it is particularly appropriate that the family chose to establish an award that will recognize other volunteers that are following her legacy.”
The recipient of the award will be announced at the UWRC Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner currently sponsored in its entirety by Provident Bank each spring. This wonderful event is held in honor of the volunteers each UWRC Member Agency selects for special recognition. The UWRC Bobbi Lewis Volunteer of the Year award will include a check (maximum $1000) to be directed to one Rockland 501(c)(3) charity of the recipient’s choice as well as a beautiful keepsake for the recipient noting this significant achievement.
