THE UWRC DAY OF CARING

What: The United Way of Rockland County Day of Caring serves to encourage area businesses to reward employees by serving our community and representing their company as they complete community service projects at local non-profit organizations. Over the past few years we have invited school children to join us to reinforce their understanding of the value of community service.

The day begins with a huge breakfast celebration rally that is held at the IBM Palisades Executive Center. Over 350 people attend to witness the kick off of our annual campaign and to represent each participating company as it is recognized for their community service. Over $30,000 is given in donated time to help any local non-profit who asks to be included. Most importantly, the experience of participating in this event has motivated many of our volunteers to continue to donate their time to these agencies well after the actual Day of Caring.

Where: Non-profit organizations throughout Rockland County

(Kick off Breakfast starts at 8:30am – reservations required)

Who: In 2003, > 8500 people from more than 40 companies &

5 school districts participated in the 2003 Day of Caring.

Individuals who wish to join a corporate team are also welcome.

Benefits: The Day of Caring also gives to participants a first-hand look at the services provided by some of the non-profit organizations assisted by YOUR United Way and promotes company morale by giving key employees the day to participate in meaningful community service projects.

How can I become a Day of Caring Sponsor?

The UWRC Day of Caring attracts more people than any other annual community wide event and continues to receive a great deal of media coverage every year. The Day of Caring T-shirt, worn by every adult participant, proudly displays the United Way of Rockland logo along with the corporate logo of every sponsor at the Gold (on the front) and Silver (on the back) level. All sponsors are introduced at the kick-off breakfast and in the day’s program. In addition, top sponsors are also recognized in advertisements donated by The Journal News as well as in our Day of Caring sections on the UWRC website and in our annual report.
