in Kind Donation Procedures:
Thank you so much for choosing to work with United Way
of Rockland County to donate your gently used items! Here
is how you can help us to quickly find a home for your items:
- Fill
out the following form as completely as possible. Include
a detailed description of the item(s) that you wish to
donate, including dimensions, measurements, quantity,
etc. as well as much contact information as possible (including
an e-mail address and a telephone number).
-
All donated items must be in good condition (an agency
can refuse to accept your donation if it does not match
your original description).
-
The valuation of any donated property is the responsibility of the donor. The Internal Revenue Service encourages you to consult your tax advisor to assist you.
-
Please give us an idea of when and where you would like
someone to pick up your property (home, work or another
location in Rockland). It is more difficult for non-profit
agencies to pick up donated items on weekends or during
the evening, so please try to identify a time during the
day when someone will be available to obtain your donation.
Although we do not have a warehouse available to us, our
office can store small items for a short period of time.
If you need to utilize our limited office space for this
purpose, you will need to make an appointment to bring
in the materials to our office at 135 Main Street, M &
T Bank 2nd Floor, Nyack, NY between the hours of 8am –
4pm, Monday – Friday.
-
Once you submit this information on the form below, it
will be e-mailed to Jackie Goldstein, Campaign Director
for the United Way of Rockland County. If you wish to
fax this information, please fax it to her attention at
845-358-8250. Shortly after receiving your information,
she will cut and paste your description of the items and
when they can be picked up into a blast e-mail to over
100 non-profit agencies in Rockland that are interested
in accepting such items.
-
Please note that your personal information will NOT be
sent to any agency until we have “matched”
your donation with an agency that can pick it up.
-
It generally takes at least three days for us to match
an item with an agency so please wait at least three days
before calling to check on the progress of this process.
-
Once an agency has agreed to pick up your items, you will
receive a call or an e-mail from our office giving you
a contact name and the name of the agency that will be
picking up the donated item(s). If you are donating several
items, please be aware that several different agencies
may be contacting you.
-
After the transfer of items is completed, you
will receive a formal “thank you letter”.
You may utilize this form as proof of your donation to
the IRS.
-
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail
Jackie Goldstein at j.goldstein@uwrc.org.
- United Way of Rockland gladly coordinates the
scheduling pick up of gifts in kind between individuals/companies & non-profit
organizations. The United Way of Rockland County
is not responsible for any damage or inconvenience encountered
during a gift in kind transaction.
Thank
you again for your donation!
